Rhodes Island, Greece

Lindos

The Acropolis of Lindos stands above the sugar-cube houses of a 4000 year old town

June 12-18, 2022

Our week on the historic isle of Rhodes has been divided between our suite in the mountain village of Psinthos, various sandy beaches, and the ancient walled city downtown.

We’ve delighted in this sun-blessed isle. But I’ve also noticed how family travel can bring agony and ecstasy in quick succession: harrowing traffic in modern Rhodes, where mopeds weave around your car on all sides, followed by the calm grandeur of traffic-free medieval alleys in the old town. Flush-faced exhaustion after hours wandering under the Aegean sun, followed by insanely tasty fresh juices at our favourite haunt, Sklavenitis. Moments where we are all awakened by a riot of rooster calls in rural Psinthos at 5:00 am, followed by moments of awe at rounding the corner to see Lindos or floating in the gentle waves at Lee Beach in Pevkos.
